Conquer Paralysis Now Names Kristina Crawford New Executive Director
LAS VEGAS, NV (September 2019) – Conquer Paralysis Now (CPN), a nonprofit organization devoted to furthering advancements in spinal cord injury research and treatment, has named Kristina Crawford as its new executive director, it was announced today by CPN Chairman and Founder Sam Schmidt.
As CPN Executive Director, Crawford will be responsible for overseeing every facet of the organization including administration, fund raising, donor and sponsor development, government interaction and media relations.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Kristina’s background and credentials serving as our Executive Director,” Schmidt said. “Her experience leading other large medically focused organizations will enhance our efforts to increase support for CPN and our efforts to find a cure for paralysis and support those with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities.”
Crawford joins CPN from the American Lung Association of Nevada, where she was executive director from November 2014 to June 2019. Previously she served as Managing Director of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Crawford is a seasoned event planner and fundraising professional who has helped raise millions for a variety of organizations since stepping into the industry in 1999. She is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Program Planning.
“I am incredibly thrilled to be part of the CPN team. I intend to apply my fundraising experience and event planning skills to further the CPN mission and fund paralysis therapies,” Crawford said. “The organization has an energy to it that is contagious. To see, firsthand, the incredible work being done at the DRIVEN NeuroRecovery Center motivates and inspires me every day.”
In support of its mission to find a cure for paralysis and support those suffering from SCI and other disabilities, CPN recently opened the DRIVEN Neuro Recovery Center in downtown Las
Vegas. The facility not only services the needs of those with SCI, but also Stroke, ALS, Cerebral
Palsy, Transverse Myelitis and other nerve related disorders.
A two-day fund-raising event is being held October 19-20 in Las Vegas in support of CPN’s mission as well as funding therapy scholarships for DRIVEN. The event begins on October 19 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the DRIVEN center at 701 E. Bridger Avenue in Las Vegas. Guests will meet current DRIVEN clients, hear their stories and see demonstrations of the equipment that helps them day to day in the center, which is the only one of its kind in the region. A live auction will be held with incredible entertainment and travel items, and local racing celebrities will be in attendance. Cocktail attire is preferred.
Then on October 20 from 10:00 am-2:00 pm at SpeedVegas, 14200 S. Las Vegas Blvd.
Las Vegas, guests will have the opportunity to drive or ride in an exotic car on the speedway or a thrill ride with an off-road experience. Current IndyCar drivers will be in attendance and offer rides around the track. Lunch and drinks are included, and a silent auction will be held featuring a variety of items from wine packages to experiences and getaways with items priced for everyone. Dress is casual.
